Words

It took me all too many years to understand why certain words, including potty language, are inappropriate – to the human race. When the priest holds high the Book from which he will read the gospel, that Book, full of words, is God talking to the human race. There is no “certain words” or potty language in it; every word is directly from Him. In addition, “certain words”, potty language, and the like degrade our humanity. (This degradation is especially rampant in many of today’s movies.) Thus will I avoid “certain words” and potty language.

Prof. Plinio CorrĂȘa de Oliveira Humble Prayer to Mary

There are moments, my Mother, in which my soul feels touched, in its deepest recesses, by an ineffable yearning. I long for the time in which I loved thee, and thou didst love me, in the springtime atmosphere of my spiritual life.

I yearn for thee, my Lady, and for the paradise which was placed in me, by the great communication that I had with thee. Dost thou not also, my Lady, long for that time? Dost thou not long for the goodness which existed in that son that I once was?

Come therefore, thou who art the best of all mothers, and for the love of that which was blossoming in me, restore me. Recompose in me that love for thee and make of me the complete realization of that son without stain, which I would have been if I had not been so miserable.

Give me, O my Mother, a repentant and humbled heart, and make shine anew before my eyes that which by the splendor of thy grace, I had once begun to love so very much. Remember, O Lady, this David, and all of the sweetness thou didst place in him. So be it.

Unworthy – I

Lord, I am not worthy to be under the roof of the House of Your Father and far less worthy am I that you should enter under my roof but if You will  say the Word, my soul will be healed.

The Forgotten Efficacy of Indulgences

In responding to a particular post on another blog, I was led to discover new information regarding indulgences. This information is available at:

www.allorafilms.com/MustReads.html

Because of their great significance, three items re Indulgences are published here.

  • THE POPE’S POWER OF THE KEYS. The dispensing of these spiritual goods in the form of indulgences is in the power of the Pope for the universal Church, and by the power delegated by the Pope, of the bishops for their local dioceses. This power of the Keys was given to the first Pope, St. Peter, and to his successors, by Christ Himself, and is to be used to open the spiritual treasury of the Church for the benefit of the faithful.

  • INDULGENCES MAY BE APPLIED TO THE SOULS IN PURGATORY, BUT only by way of petition to God, for the souls in Purgatory are no longer subjects of the Church authorities who grant the indulgences.

  • “A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who, in the performance of their duties and in bearing the trials of life, raise their mind with humble confidence to God, adding – even if only mentally – some pious invocation.”

This last bullet gives us an easy way of putting into practice the commandment of Christ “to pray always.” To pray always means to be always conscious of the presence of God and to turn our minds to Him not only in vocal community prayer, but also and chiefly in private mental prayer. When you do this in the performance of your daily duties or in bearing the daily trials and difficulties of life, whether it be at home, at school, at work or at play, you can gain a partial indulgence whenever you turn your mind to God and add some pious invocation. An invocation can be of the briefest kind, expressed in one or few words or only thought of mentally. Such invocations could be: My Lord and My God, help me; O God have mercy on me; Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I love and adore You, etc. Keep in mind that an invocation is no longer considered to be an indulgenced prayer in itself, but only as complementing an indulgenced action, by which the faithful raise their heart and mind to God in performing their duties or bearing the trials of life.

AND SO?

Don’t waste another moment DOING (good works + prayers) what is necessary to remit temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven (note this implication of the need to prepare).

Schumer and CDiBaca

The left protects their own; or, referring to a couple of posts below, darkness protects darkness. Candi CDeBaca essentially advocated germ warfare by supporting the idea that chromavirus infected people should attend Pres. Trump rallies. Why isn’t she in jail for hate speech?

Senator minority leader Chuck Schumer stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and threatened the Justices should they vote in favor of support for the very logical Louisiana law requiring an abortionist to have hospital credentials. Why isn’t he in jail for hate speech?

More Proof That The Devil Is Loose In The World

“…evil is the ultimate source of all totalitarianisms. If we are committed to something that is wrong, we can brook no reasoned opposition.” Remind you of a particular political party? Of a particular pattern of behavior in UC Berkley types? Of a particular pattern in rabid feminists? Of a particular pattern of the left?

“No wonder, then, that modern secular courts are ever inventing more reasons to restrict the speech and behavior of Christians, lest light be shed on the pagan darkness which offers cover to those who hate the light.”

Jesus told us of this over 2000 years ago: “And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” [Jn 3:19-20]

The Devil Is Loose In The World

Judge Andreas Vosskuhle at the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe said the right to a self-determined death included “the freedom to take one’s life and seek help doing so”.

The court also surprised observers by explicitly stating that the right to assisted suicide services should not be limited to the seriously or incurably ill.

And where will this new “right” be implemented next?

The Transfiguration

Today (03/08/2020) was the gospel concerning the Transfiguration. For me, it is a most mysterious and non-understandable passage. Apparently, for reasons known to God alone, He wanted the three apostles, Peter, James and John, to realize just who this Jesus is. One could presume that the vision strengthened these apostles who, in turn, might have used the event to strenghten the rest of the apostles – “Jesus charged them, saying: Tell the vision to no man, till the Son of man be risen from the dead”. – since they would be the most likely to recall Jesus’ taking the three with Him up the mountain.
